In Honor of the 19 Brave Firefighters

Our firefighter Angel is a work-in-progress. We wanted to share even though it may change. Awareness Angels members were saddened by the loss of life this week of the 19 Granite Mountain Hotshots in the Yarnell Fire.  They were firefighters from Prescott, Arizona.  We wanted to share a firefighter memorial awareness angel that reflected our sympathies for the families and community. The international ribbon for firefighter awareness ribbon is a red (representing fire) and blue (for water) ribbon. In our research, there were other variations including flame themed ribbons. We hope this angel will stand to honor firefighters who are the thin red line of courage using even their lives in protecting our communities. The black is to mourn the lives lost in the line of service.

For those wishing to provide financial support to the families of the firefighters, you may make a donation to the "United Phoenix Fire Fighters Association".  On the below website link, there are options for mailing a check, as well as, sending an online payment via PayPal.  Per the website "Every penny of your tax deductible contribution will go directly to the families."

Firefighter Awareness Angel: Courage, Mourn, & Honor the Thin Red Line

We hope you enjoy this angel and welcome your comments or ideas. Awareness Angels does plan to make the international blue and red ribbon at some time in the future. Some suggestions include adding flames behind the angel, water on the ribbon, flames on the ribbon, placing a firefighter hat on the angel or adding a badge to the ribbon cross-over. Thank You for supporting our art awareness and angel project.
